EDMR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps individuals process distressing memories and experiences. Originally developed to address trauma-related conditions, EMDR has shown effectiveness in treating a wide range of issues.

During an EMDR session, you will be guided to recall specific traumatic memories while simultaneously being grounded in the present moment. Grounding techniques such as therapist-directed eye movements, bilateral sounds, or taps help you achieve dual attention on past and present. This process aims to stimulate your brain's natural ability to process and integrate traumatic memories in a less distressing way. EMDR therapy can lead to a reduction in emotional distress, maladaptive beliefs, and symptoms related to the traumatic experience.

In my experience, EMDR is more efficient than talk therapy alone for most clients. Additionally, it creates powerful healing because the insights that relieve distress are self-generated rather than suggested by the therapist.
